God’s Power Rangers?

29 01 2010

Ephesians 1:16-20:
I have never stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.  I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the wonderful future he has promised to those he called. I want you to realize what a rich and glorious inheritance he has given to his people.  I pray that you will begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. (NLT)

Looking back, those of you who missed the beginning of the Power Rangers craze didn’t miss much.  However, in the beginning the Power Rangers were all that was awesome.  TV, toys, videos, video games, lunch boxes, blankets and anything else you could imagine hit stores and homes like a tornado!

Every kid was a power ranger in their imagination!  The problem was deciding on which power ranger you would be.  Girls only chose pink or yellow for obvious reasons.  For guys the choice order went: red, black, blue (sorry billy, but you were a dork).  Once green ranger appeared on the scene it depended on your favorite color between green or red as to which color went first (green was always my choice btw).

I go into all that to say, if you were apart of that era, we all pretended we had a power from some awesome source, which enhanced our natural ability so we could battle the forces of evil.

The reality is we have that power from God, our amazing source, so that we can battle the forces of Satan and sin.  Instead of a team of power rangers to emulate we have Jesus Christ.  Do you realize that the power God used to raise Him from the dead is the same power that we have to carry out God’s purpose for our lives?  Yet we live like it is only in our imagination…

What could we do if we tapped into that power we have so readily available?  My prayer is that we would recognize that power in our lives and let the Spirit guide and direct us according to God’s purpose.
